This paper presents a procedure to transmit images from a computer to a mobile station using a cellular network GSM / EDGE. To transmit the images, the system utilizes a wireless module with EDGE technology and a computer with a video camera. In the receiver, is used a cell phone with EDGE and Java to display the images in the JPEG format. The communication between the mobile phone and module is established by a TCP connection. Due to the transmission rate restrictions of the EDGE technology, the images was sending in low resolution and low frame rates, which are sufficient to transmit the images in real time.

Resumo

Este trabalho apresenta um procedimento para transmitir imagens de um computador para uma unidade móvel utilizando a rede celular GSM/EDGE. Para o envio das imagens, é utilizado um módulo com suporte a tecnologia EDGE e um computador com câmera de vídeo. No lado do receptor é usado um telefone celular com EDGE e Java para a exibição das imagens no formato JPEG. A comunicação entre o telefone celular e o MC75 é estabelecida por uma conexão TCP. Devido à limitação na taxa de transmissão da tecnologia EDGE, a transmissão das imagens foi realizada em baixa resolução e baixa taxa de quadros, suficientes para viabilizar a transmissão de imagens em tempo real.
