  • Sobre o ranking TIOBE (jul-2016), Pesquisa Eclipse em IoT (abr-2016) e Pesquisa IEEE (jul-2016)
  1. C vem encostando no Java mas parece mais sensível a variação com a ascensão do Python e Assembly. Na IEEE é a primeira no geral e em embarcdos ainda vem Arduino em terceiro nos embarcados (ali considerado linguagem apesar de usar C/C++).
  2. Em popularidade geral Java desponta na última década inclusive como mais usada em IoT. No ranking IEEE vem em segundo no geral e não é citada em embarcados.
  3. C++ apesar de continuar sendo muito popular vem em declínio gradativo. Na IEEE é a quarta no geral e segunda nos embarcados e ainda vem Arduino em terceiro nos embarcados (ali considerado linguagem apesar de usar C/C++).
  4. Python cresce rápido e mostra uma tendência de adoção especialmente pela melhor curva de aprendizagem. Na IEEE é a terceira no geral e não é citada nos embarcados.

  • TIOBE Programming Community index The TIOBE Programming Community index is an indicator of the popularity of programming languages. The index is updated once a month. The ratings are based on the number of skilled engineers world-wide, courses and third party vendors. Popular search engines such as Google, Bing, Yahoo!, Wikipedia, Amazon, YouTube and Baidu are used to calculate the ratings. It is important to note that the TIOBE index is not about the best programming language or the language in which most lines of code have been written.
  • IEEE Top Programming Languages Welcome to IEEE Spectrum’s third interactive ranking of the most popular programming languages. As it’s impossible to look over the shoulder of every programmer, Spectrum uses various metrics as proxies for gauging the current use of a language. Working with data journalist Nick Diakopoulos, from 10 online sources we’ve chosen 12 metrics, each one of which gives insight along a different axis of popularity. Combining the metrics produces a single ranking.

  • 2014-07: Artigo Artigo mostra a ascenção da linguagem Python em 39 das principais instituições de ensino estadunidenses, ficando Python como a mais adotada, seguida por Java, Matlab, C e C++.
